UCL – The Revolution That Shook The World

In 1979, an Islamic revolution took place which reformed a country in a way never seen before. Although it took place in Iran, its effects reverberated throughout the world. Led by Ayatollah Khomeini, it was a revolution like no other in history, in its efficiency, success and popularity. This event will aim to understand how one man revived the faith of a nation and why the regime that this revolution put in place can still be seen as successful today.

ABSoc Statement on Recent Israeli Attack on Aid Flotilla

The ‘Freedom‘ flotilla consisting of more than 600 activists was bringing amongst many supplies, hope for the Palestinians prisoned inside Gaza Strip. Their peaceful message was confronted by deadly attacks from the Israeli Army, who savagely killed at least 19 innocent people and injured dozens more.
AhlulBayt Islamic Society would like to join the International Community in condemning the atrocities committed by Zionist Regime, and invite all our dear brothers and sisters to express their outrage towards these unlawful acts by taking part in their local demonstrations all around the globe. A range of Historical & Cultural pieces will be on display, some which will be hands-on accessible, courtesy of ‘Leeds Museums & Galleries’ including a fragment of Kā’ba Cloth, 1917. Modern Bespoke artwork will be on sale, provided by Islamic Design Studio.

United Against Violence

The Ahlulbayt Islamic, Jewish, Christian and Hindu societies are very pleased to present the FIRST EVER inter-faith event at City University!
We would cordially like to invite you all to join us at our event on the 8th March 2010, where four faith societies of the university will be standing united against violence. This event aims to bring the faiths together and allow us to unite against this grave form of injustice. Each religion will be represented through their speakers who will resolve some of the misconceptions associated to their religion and present an accurate perspective of their belief system. And TOGETHER we will show the world that we stand for peace and harmony.

“1979 – The revolution that shook the world” – and UCL..

The 11th February 2010 marked the 31st anniversary of the Islamic Revolution of Iran which took place in 1979. This year, millions of people took to the streets of Iran to celebrate the anniversary of a revolution based on moral values, independence and freedom. On the same occasion, an academic event discussing the revolution and its impact and implications on an international level was organised to be held at University College London (UCL). The event entitled “1979 — The Revolution that shook the world” was a collaboration between UCL & Imperial AhlulBayt Islamic Society (ABSoc).
