As you are all aware, living in the west can be difficult as a Muslim. Islam is targeted on a regular basis and Islamophobia is on the rise. To maintain our Islamic identity and also flourish in such a society, every Muslim must strengthen their beliefs based on rationality and logic. By sharpening our most treasured tool, the mind, we would be ready to understand our religion better, allowing us to engage in dialogue with those around us.

This workshop will cover the basic principles of project management specifically to improve the way we manage projects in university societies and provide some of the useful tools that can be used.

Capturing lessons learnt

The workshop will run for one hour and will consist of a mixture of theory and interactive exercises.

The idea behind is that the committee members are looked up to as role models and many students take them as confidants, seeking advice from them. Therefore we felt it was necessary that they are in a position to be able to counsel students well and point them in the right direction when they are going through difficult times. Especially as being a student can really take its toll on people.

Poor communication is one of the most common causes for the failure of an organisation or endeavour. Good communication is a pillar of successful leadership and teamwork. It is paramount for any organisation to consider its communication strategy and to train its members to take a concious approach to communication.
This workshop will look at both intra (within an organisation/team) and inter (an organisation collectively communicating with other than itself) communication with the intention of improving our understanding of good communication behaviours. This will involving presentations and interactive exercises.
